Some Detox Foods for your Detox Diet
Detoxification is basically cleaning out your body from unwanted wastes. The body can absorb so many nutrients from the food that we ingest but if we already got used to going to a number of fast food chains then it’s going to be a different story. Look back at your life and see what you have been eating. You don’t even have to look really far back. Just try and see what you had for the last 7 days. Do you see a pattern emerging? For some people, the food intake that they had may be summarized to one word; preservatives. For convenience sake, there are a number of food items already sold in the market that is full of preservatives to improve shelf life. As for my part, the sad thing is I actually got to know noodles from a packet that was fed to me back when I was a kid. I was surprised to see that noodles are actually made out of dough. How many of you share this sentiment?
Believe it or not, there is a lot of detoxifying food items that we are used to seeing around the house. We may have eaten them or used them for cooking a number of times already. The problem exists though that if we are not aware of what we should be eating then chances are the toxins are still overpowering the antioxidants that we ingest.
The first thing that we have to know and see is if we are ready to make a commitment to our own health. We would have to get rid of the “convenience” mentality. Before we jump into products and services offered by some companies, we would have to have the discipline in us to be healthy. Cutting back on what we know that is bad for us is the first step and probably the hardest one. If you are working and you got used to the greasy lunch in your cafeteria or some convenient take out place, this needs to change. You have to make drastic changes on your lifestyle.
You may be surprised to see some of the food items that can help you cleanse your body are actually something you can easily pick out at the grocery. Here is some of it:
Onions
I am not just talking about the actual onion. You can also include garlic, scallions and leeks. This is something that we use for cooking or when we make sauces.
Fruits
Fresh ones, these are the ones that you should be getting. Stay away from preserved fruits. You can focus on lemons, apples and a number of berries.
Vegetables
Weren’t you told by your parents back then to eat your veggies? Now you know the reason why. You can shop for Cucumbers, celery, beets, celery and a lot more.
Nuts
There are number of these things you can actually get in the market. There are almonds, cashews, walnuts, macadamia and you can also include seeds like sesame and pumpkin.
Herbs and Spices
These are just lovely garnishing as well as spices that we use for out cooking and salads. These include parsley, cilantro, cumin, cinnamon and a lot more.
