Some people don’t find them to be as delicious as other smoothie flavors though. So, if you it’s the first time you’ve tried some green smoothie recipes or fresh foods only diet you may be in for a surprise. You’ll find that if you persevere that you will acquire a taste for them and won’t find them bitter anymore.

One way to get used to the taste of a green smoothie is to add a little fruit in with your green leaf vegetables. To start with for your first green smoothies add fifty percent fruit and fifty percent green veggies. Sweet fruits like mangoes, peaches bananas or blueberries work great to take the edge off the bitterness you may find with a green smoothie. Green Smoothie with Coconut Oil

After experimenting with coconut oil and green smoothie mixtures I’ve found one I love. I’ll bet you see a bunch of new recipes including coconut oil springing up very soon. You won’t find it in every kitchen in America but you really should. The singular taste and the reputation of being the most nutritious oil on the planet makes it a natural choice as a smoothie ingredient. Mix yourself up one of these. I know you’ll love it as much as I do. Any brand will work as long as it’s organic and extra virgin style coconut oil.

Here’s what else you’ll need:
2 frozen bananas
2 gigantic handfuls of spinach
1 cup of almond or soy or even regular milk
1/4 tsp of cinnamon
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1 tablespoon of the coconut oil

Add all ingredients into a blender. Just blend it all in a mixer until its all blended well. Serve it up in tall glasses.

As you begin to love a green smoothie add more and more greens to it. Lettuce, spinach, kale, onion and beet greens are ever popular ingredients. If you want to experiment with green herbs try parsley, cilantro or any of your other favorites. You can even add celery, tomatoes, carrots or peppers to give your green smoothie a jolt of additional taste. For the best tasting smoothie try to add complimentary veggies like carrots and celery or cilantro and tomatoes.

Natural lime juice, lemon juice and a dash of sea salt is a great way to neutralize the bitterness you may taste. Yet another trick is to add a whole lemon peel and all into your mixture. Make sure it is an organic lemon though. If it is not organic don’t use the peel as it could contain chemicals that are bad for you.

Once you find a mixture you like you’ll find if you start your day with a green smoothie you’ll gain a boost of energy that sticks around all day long.
